How to Operate a Wall-Mounted UPS Bypass Switch

The bypass switch for a typical rackmount UPS system should not be operated while the UPS is in 'Battery Mode'. Under normal conditions, the INPUT and OUTPUT breakers on the external bypass should remain closed to allow normal load operation through the UPS. If LED 'A' is flashing red/green or solid green, consult a UPS supplier before proceeding. The procedure involves holding the Red 'O' button for 5 seconds, which will change the status of LEDs 'C', 'E', and 'F'. Following this, the external bypass switch must be accessed, and the key used to ensure the red light on the Bypass switch turns on before the maintenance bypass switch can be operated. It is crucial to follow these steps precisely to avoid any interruptions or damage to the UPS, and this process should only be performed with an engineer present.

WARNING!

IF THE ABOVE PROCEDURE IS NOT FOLLOWED EXACTLY- THE LOAD ON THE OUTPUT OF THE UPS MAY BE INTERRUPTED CAUSING THE UPS DAMAGE.
